Napkin folding can be considered an art if you look at all the ways there are out there. Some of the styles we’ve seen remind us of origami, the art of paper folding. As creative as you can get folding a napkin, we’re here to assure you that there are simple, chic, and elegant ways you can tackle this task!
If you look at the bigger picture, designing and setting up tablescapes doesn’t have to be complex or overdone. In fact, some of our favorite ones can be described as “minimalist.” Napkins are an important piece to any place setting, but they shouldn’t steal the show when you’re factoring in the overall tablescape. They should be handled with enough intention that they don’t seem like an after thought and they should help uphold the overall table design. Make sense? Not too much, but not too little.
At LOBO House to Home, we’ve compiled three chic, easy-to-set ways of which we have been folding our napkins in our tablescapes.
3 Chic Ways to Fold a Napkin
-
The Basic Knot
We tend to keep the knot loose, so it appears full and chunky.
To create this look: fold the napkin in half diagonally, then tie in a loose knot
-
The Tie Me Up
Here, we could go with a napkin ring, ribbon, or any material – any way works!
To create this look: fold the napkin in half diagonally (2x), then tie your desired material around – keeping 1 corner up and 2 corners down
-
The Twist and Tuck
It’s loud, proud and goes great with a sprig of floral or herbs!
To create this look: lay the napkin flat, twist the napkin a couple times, then tuck the top and bottom under your plate
We hope these looks find their way to your table!
